Bernini, Cornaro Chapel with St. Teresa

In the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, Bernini uses the Cornaro Chapel as if it were a little theater to present a dramatic portrayal of the ecstasy of Saint Teresa. Watch this video to learn about the chapel and how Bernini uses his skills in integrating sculpture, painting, and architecture into a single project; simulating different textures in marble; and creating spatial illusions to present a powerful conversion scene that appealed to a Counter-Reformation audience in Rome.
