Designing a Juice Carton

Goal: Design a rectangular juice carton that holds exactly 330 ml of juice and uses as little material to build as possible.

The Just Juice Company wants a new, rectangular carton that will hold exactly 330 ml of juice. Each edge of the new carton must be an exact number of centimetres long (e.g. it cannot be 4.75 cm long). The company also wants to use as little material to construct the juice carton as possible.

You team has been assigned the job of designing a juice carton that holds exactly 330 ml of juice and uses as little material to build as possible.

• Design a fold up template that can be used to build the carton from a single sheet of material. No cuts allowed! Glue can be used.
• Create a table that shows possible dimensions of the carton along with the required amount of material to build the carton.

• Determine the dimensions of the company’s ideal carton along with the required amount of material to build the carton.
