Table Listing Unit 1 Word Roots and Their Definitions

This is the first of the tables you will encounter in this book. Since the book is primarily made up of these tables, it’s important that you pay careful attention to them and understand how they work.

Unit 1 How to use tables

Each table has four types of control and a search panel. The top control lets you set the number of entries that will show. I recommend you set that to 100, the maximum. The search panel is also at the top of the table. You can type any text you want to search into this panel, for example, if you are trying to break down a word to understand its meaning.

The top blue bar has the title of each column. You can click on these titles to sort the table by the contents of that column.

Inside the table are hypertext links to web pages that will give you more information, if you need it.

At the bottom, you will see a listing of the total number of entries. Remember you are responsible for ALL of them.

If the table runs to multiple pages, the bottom right control allows you to flip between pages of the table.
