Conducting research with the Department of Emergency Medicine has been transformative during my undergraduate journey, offering hands-on exposure to the nuances of clinical research and healthcare. Directly contributing to socially and academically relevant clinical projects has allowed me to engage with the complete research process, ranging from designing studies and formulating methodologies to data collection, organization, and analysis. These experiences have cultivated my technical research skills and strengthened my problem-solving abilities.

One of the most impactful aspects of this role has been interacting directly with patients while completing surveys and questionnaires in the emergency department. This opportunity has honed my bedside manner, teaching me to communicate effectively with individuals under stress in a fast-paced environment. Observing physicians and care teams at work has provided invaluable insight into patient care and clarified my own career aspirations in healthcare.

This research experience has further deepened my commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility and health equity while improving patient outcomes, aligning with my long-term goals in the health sciences. I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship, professional growth, and exposure this opportunity has provided, as it has supplied me with highly transferable skills and laid a strong foundation for my future in both clinical and research settings.
