This summer in the Lifespan Motor Neuroscience Lab has been an incredibly valuable experience for academic, professional, and personal growth. It began with an extensive review of foundational material that prepared me to feel like an expert in my research for the remainder of the summer. I gained experience working with human participants while learning the intricacies of collecting, processing, analyzing, and disseminating data. In recruitment and outreach settings, I gained confidence in myself as a researcher, and I am very proud of my work’s culmination into the undergraduate symposium and journal submission. I got to work closely with faculty and graduate students that became valuable mentors and friends, and I am leaving with an abundance of new connections with the students, staff, and researchers that surrounded me every day. As I return home, I am excited to remain in collaboration with my lab here at the U while seeking similar experiences that will continue to develop my own research focus and forge my path towards graduate school in the field of Neuroscience.
