Introduction
This book is a compilation of the perspectives and projects of two undergraduate students who work in the J. Willard Marriott library at the University of Utah. Elise Lemonnier and Emma Day, hired to assist with library projects, focus on creating PressBooks and OER marketing materials. They conducted and collected data on student perspectives about OERs. Elise, a senior in art history major with a minor in art and design, and Emma, a freshman business major with a focus on marketing and publishing, provide unique perspectives on the open education space and have brought to the table invaluable skills that help to build OER awareness on campus. They did not know anything about OERs when they came to the library this year, they developed Pressbook publishing skills and their contributions in moving the library OER initiatives forward have been amazing!
Read along to see samples of their work and the recommendations they have for faculty who might be considering using OERs in their teaching.
With gratitude to Elise and Emma,
