Our Plans for the Future

Just as we shared our initial goals at the beginning, we want to share our goals going forward:

We have started writing a new book about using AI in OER development called AI-Assisted OER Creation: A Practical Guide. With the knowledge we gain from the research, and having it to use as a guide, we hope to connect with professors on campus and encourage them to begin creating OERs for their courses. Having the book as a step by step guide and using AI to assist the process, we believe we can make the process of creating OERs more seamless and so much more attainable.

We also want to continue working with faculty outside of that project to help them learn about and integrate Open resources for their courses, and we have been working on getting Citi certified so we can do a state sponsored survey over the summer.

Because Elise is (sadly) graduating this spring, we are hoping to bring in another undergraduate student this fall to continue our mentorship framework.

And lastly, we hope to grow the OER community specifically in Utah. Which we will be working towards by presenting on the Student Perspective of OERs at the state-wide Utah Academic Library Consortium webinar series, which will bring a few students interested in OERs together and start the conversation around open education between our colleges.
