Accessibility Statement

Weber State University believes that education needs to be available to everyone, which means supporting the creation of free, open, and accessible educational resources. We are actively committed to increasing the accessibility and usability of the textbooks we produce.

The web version of this resource has been designed to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, level AA. In addition, it follows all guidelines in Appendix A: Checklist for Accessibility of the Accessibility Toolkit – 2nd Edition.

• Easy navigation. This resource has a linked table of contents and uses headings in each chapter to make navigation easy.
• Accessible videos. All videos in this resource have captions.
• Accessible images. All images in this resource that convey information have alternative text. Images that are decorative have no alternative text.
• Accessible links. All links use descriptive link text.

Known Accessibility Issues and Areas for Improvement

While all videos contained in this resource have captions, the captions do not have Speaker Identification. Mentioned videos can be found in 1.1 Open Educational Resources, 1.2 Open Pedagogy, and 3.7 Choosing a CC License.

Among the linked documents, there are a few that do not meet accessibility guidelines due to not being editable, certain table headers being undefined, some images not given alternative text or flagged as decorative, and some absent file metadata. These linked documents can be found in 2.3 Evaluating Open Resources, 3.5 OER and Generative Artificial Intelligence, and 3.7 Choosing a CC License.
