The following templates are for all of the required and optional back matter sections in open textbooks published by WSU. Authors may elect to include additional back matter pieces. This is also the order they should appear in the book. This content can be adjusted for non-Open Education projects.

Glossary (Optional)

If the book uses the Pressbooks Glossary tool, the glossary terms can be set up to display automatically in the back matter as follows:

1. Create a new back matter section.
2. Title the page “Glossary.”
3. Set “Chapter Type” to “Glossary.”
4. Save the page and leave the main content blank.

Acknowledgement Statement

The content for acknowledgements will vary from book to book and can be done in either the front matter or the back matter. For more information visit Chapter 4.4 Front Matter. Acknowledgement statements are required for WSU projects.

Adaptation Statement

This is only applicable to resources that are adaptations or remixes, and an Adaptation Statement is required for WSU projects that use adapted or remixed materials. This should be included in either the front or back matter. If this page is used, you should link to it from the copyright section (see Metadata and Book Info).

Exceptions to the Open License (Required if applicable)

This is only applicable when a resource includes content that is not openly licensed. This information should be kept track of throughout the creation of the resource to make it simpler to compile. Note that including all rights reserved content is to be avoided as much as possible.
