Mental Health
USU students with access to a campus are eligible for Counseling and Psychology Services (CAPS) mental health services. Most services are free to qualified students, confidential, and not part of your academic or university records. Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of individuals from multiple backgrounds, including differences of culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, ability, and sexual orientation. We adhere to policies of equal opportunity and nondiscrimination.
How CAPS Works
CAPS typically provides short-term, goal-oriented therapy (6-8 sessions). In general, individual therapy at CAPS is not recommended for students seeking and/or needing intensive or long-term treatment.
USU Thriving Campus
For students looking for intensive or long-term treatment — and students who aren’t eligible for CAPS — USU has partnered with Thriving Campus, which is an easy-to-use database of mental health providers in Cache Valley and across the state to make it easier for you to connect with off-campus mental health care.
- Browse and filter providers based on your needs and preferences
- Get answers to common questions
- Reach out to community providers and connect with mental health care
