Introduction

This book was designed for students in a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program specializing in leadership. In this course, learners will examine what it means to be a nursing professional. They will then incorporate principles of professionalism, including communication and advocacy, to influence the development of well-designed healthcare policies. Finally, students will use their knowledge to analyze healthcare policies and identify strategies that could be used to advocate for individuals and the profession of nursing to ensure healthcare systems that are safe, equitable, and ethical.
