Personal Narratives and Inquiries

Develop Narratives:

  • Choose a significant personal experience or event that you can narrate in the target language.
  • Use varied tenses (past, present, future) to demonstrate your command over different time frames.
  • Integrate cultural elements into your narratives. This can include traditions, customs, celebrations, or any cultural nuances relevant to the story.
  • Ensure that your narrative is coherent and engaging, allowing the reader to understand the context and cultural elements seamlessly.

Example: Imagine describing a family gathering during a cultural celebration, narrating the preparations, the actual event, and the aftermath, while incorporating language skills and cultural references.

Cultural Nuances:

  • Reflect on experiences where you encountered cultural differences in communication or customs.
  • Share personal stories that highlight these cultural nuances, showcasing your awareness and understanding.
  • Include observations on communication styles, gestures, or any unique aspects of the culture that impacted your experience.

Example: Describe a situation where you had to navigate a cultural difference in communication, such as a misunderstanding or a unique way people express emotions. Reflect on how this experience broadened your cultural understanding.

Assignment Submission:

  • Craft your personal narratives, ensuring they meet a minimum of three paragraphs.
  • Review and edit your work for clarity, coherence, and language proficiency.
  • Post your narration (minimum 3 paragraphs) on Canvas – Assignment Semana 14.
