2 The College Course Load

Cartoon image of a college student holding a cup, begging for money. "I tried to take eighteen credits" is written on a sign next to the student.

Watch the video to learn more about how a college course load differs from high school.

Did You Know?

In high school, you took 7-8 classes every day (or every other day, depending on your schedule). In college, a full course load is about 4 classes (12-15 credits).

College Workload

Don’t get lulled into thinking college is easier than high school because you are taking half the amount of courses in half the amount of time you did in high school. More is expected of you outside of the classroom in college than in high school. Plan to spend 2-3 hours per credit hour outside of class. You got this! We’ll help you learn how.
