49 Research Reflection by Camryn Perry

Faculty Mentor: William A. Smith (Educational Psychology, University of Utah)

This summer, I conducted research through the SPUR/REACH U2 Program at the University of Utah, studying racial battle fatigue among Black dental professionals under Dr. William A. Smith. I analyzed interviews and focus groups to explore how racism impacts mental health and career advancement. This experience strengthened my research skills and deepened my passion for psychiatry, especially in serving underrepresented communities. It confirmed my commitment to addressing mental health disparities through both clinical care and culturally informed research.
