12 Research Reflection by Igor Antonio Andrade Silva

My undergraduate research was an important opportunity to apply and deepen my understanding of core chemical engineering concepts, such as fluid mechanics and mass transfer, in addressing practical problems. The project focused on bioprocesses, which produce high-value products but often face bottlenecks in purification. Exploring alternative purification methods allowed me to connect theory with practice and strengthen my problem-solving skills. More importantly, the experience gave me a clear understanding of the research workflow, from planning experiments to analyzing results, and the discipline required to carry projects through to completion. Whether I ultimately work in industry or academia, this experience has prepared me to work effectively and responsibly on complex challenges.
