96 Research Reflection by Lorelei Sole

Faculty Mentor: Sheri Holmen (Surgery, University of Utah)

Participating in research has been the most transformative experience of my undergraduate career. Studying melanoma at the Huntsman Cancer Institute has not only deepened my understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer, but has also provided me with critical hands-on experience that I will continue to apply as I conduct more research in the future. Under the guidance of my mentor, I have had the privilege to present my work at conferences, which has allowed me to enhance my communication and presentation skills while networking with others. In the future, I plan to pursue medical school and am confident that this research experience will shape me into a more compassionate and knowledgeable physician.
