Engaging in research on the relationship between neighborhood income levels in Salt Lake City and aspects such as food pricing, accessibility, and availability has had a significant impact on my educational career and future goals of becoming a physician. This experience has highlighted the complex relationship between socioeconomic position and health consequences, inspiring a desire within me to address health disparities and advocate for equitable healthcare access. This research has provided me with essential insights into the varied determinants of health, encouraging a more in-depth understanding of the complications individuals may confront outside of clinical settings. This understanding has strengthened my resolve to pursue a profession in medicine based on empathy, social responsibility, and a desire to make a good difference in underprivileged regions.
