Faculty Mentor: Gregory Ducker (Biochemistry, University of Utah)

At the time I joined the Ducker Lab in the Summer of 2022, I did not realize what an amazing experience I would have participating in undergraduate research. My mentors, Dr. Gregory Ducker and graduate student Kyle Dunlap, have gone to great lengths to ensure my success as an undergraduate researcher and I cannot thank them enough for sharing their knowledge with me. My initial participation in research came at a time in my undergraduate career when I was still uncertain about the path I wanted to take after graduation. However, my experience helped steer me towards a graduate education in pharmacy. Conducting research in the Department of Biochemistry allowed me to feel more confident in the career I am pursuing and in my future educational goals. Having been accepted to the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy Class of 2028, my goal is to pursue an education and career that involves research in medicinal chemistry. As I do so, I look forward to utilizing the skills and knowledge I’ve gained as an undergraduate researcher in that endeavor. Without a doubt, participating in undergraduate research as part of the Ducker Lab has been one of the most beneficial experiences I have had at the University of Utah.
