Implementation
Once a training plan is designed, it must be implemented into the horse’s weekly routine. There are many ways to schedule training sessions, ranging from a simple whiteboard to a specifically designed phone app. Each training session should be strategically placed during the week to best support the horse.
At the end of each training session, notes should be taken to describe what you did, how the horse did, and what the horse needs more work on. This will allow you to track the horse’s progress and adjust their plan as needed.
Notes can be tracked in various horse training or management apps, through hard copies in a binder, or other digital methods such as Microsoft or Google Forms. If the notes are submitted via an online link, posting a QR code can enable personnel to quickly access the form and input their notes after each session. A training notes template is included in the Appendix (see Appendix 11).
