Instructions for Completing the Horse Program List
- Replace Lesson Name in each column with the name and/or brief description of a lesson type your program offers (e.g., mounted beginner lessons, unmounted lessons, hippotherapy, driving). For each horse, indicate whether they are suitable for participation in that lesson by writing “yes” or “no.” If a horse is cleared to participate in a program but with some restrictions, add an asterisk after “yes.”
- In the Skill Restrictions column, note any relevant limitations or preferences related to the horse’s performance. For example, a horse may be cleared to canter only with balanced riders, may tolerate most rider tools but not bubbles, or may prefer adults over children while still remaining safe with both.
- You may also include skill-specific restrictions within a “yes” column. For instance, if a horse is not yet suitable for ramp mounts, you could write “no ramp mounts” under the Adaptive Riding column.
- Use the Notes column to capture additional information that may assist program staff when assigning horses to lessons and pairing them with appropriate participants and handlers such as a description of their movement.
