Assessment of the Lesson Horse

Before integrating a horse into a lesson program, as well as throughout their time in the program, they should be assessed for suitability. This applies to all types of programs, whether traditional or EAS, beginner or advanced, mounted or unmounted. Using a systematic method to evaluate each horse’s ability to safely perform various skills allows you to place them in roles they can handle safely and competently. The primary goal of any program should be the safety of humans and horses. By ensuring that horses are properly prepared and remain suitable for lesson work, we can uphold that standard.
