Evaluation Dialogue Between Doctor-Patient:
Doctor Good morning.
Patient Buenos días. Ya he tenido tres hijos y me gustaría tener información sobre todos los anticonceptivos porque ya no quiero volver a quedarme embarazada.
Doctor Well, there are different methods, so it depends on which is best for you. There are pills or internal devices that are inserted, and you don’t have to worry about it for a few years.
Patient Pues un método para que no se entere de mi marido y que no lo note.
Doctor OK, of course, you have to understand that it is your decision. It is a good idea to consult with your husband, but in the end, it is your decision.
Patient Sí es algo que he decidido y me gustaría saber las opciones disponibles.
Doctor A good option that could work for you, since you are young and don’t have any risk factors, is the insertion of an IUD. It lasts for a varying number of years, and doesn’t need to be examined once it is inserted well. Additionally, an IUD won’t affect your ability to have intercourse, it can’t be felt, and no one has to know. I’ll give you a pamphlet so you can think about it and make an appropriate decision.
Patient ¿Y eso duele?
Doctor You’ll feel some discomfort when it is inserted and may have some pain and spotting that day. We recommend that you take an anti-inflammatory medication. The pain and spotting will go away quickly.
Patient Pues se lo agradezco. ¿Y cómo puedo pedir cita?
Doctor You’ll have to make an appointment by calling the number in the brochure. They’ll also give you more information regarding the process when you call.
Patient Muchas gracias, doctora. Nos vemos pronto.
Doctor Very good. See you.
