In order to locate your streaming files later, it is important to tag them with the course ID and instructor name. (e.g. BIOL1010_BillieBobb).  It is also helpful to give your videos a short descriptive title. (e.g. Mitosis). Be aware that unless you change the video settings most videos will expire in 120 days.

Students are more likely to watch shorter videos.  Encourage faculty to create short, concise videos 7-10 minutes maximum length (where possible).  If videos are longer, consider post editing into logical shorter segments that can be named and tagged appropriately.

Faculty can also do video announcements and test reviews.  A benefit of the test reviews is that faculty can refer students to the video in response to questions addressed without having to repeat the information which saves valuable time.

Motivating students to watch the entire video can be accomplished through the above strategies to be concise as well as making students accountable in some fashion such as using a code word students need to report, making the video into a Kaltura quiz, or regularly quizzing students on video information.
