4 Remote Work

The Office of Teaching and Learning has office space on the 5th floor of the Fulton Library on UVU campus. Many instructional designers opt to work from home remotely. If you are new to remote work, read through this quick guide to help navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with remote work.

Communication

Sometimes remote work can feel isolating. However, even if you work remotely, you are not on your own here in OTL. We all support each other. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help.

Communication is important. You will need to communicate with your supervisor, other designers and members of OTL, and professors when you collaborate on projects. After you clock in for work each day, you must log into your e-mail, Teams, and Monday. Stay logged in to these systems during your working hours to maintain open lines of communication.

We use Microsoft Teams, Outlook , and Monday.com to keep in touch. Make sure you are checking in regularly with your teammates and your supervisor. Whether it’s through Teams video calls, chats, or emails, staying connected helps everyone stay on the same page. And don’t be shy—if you need something or have a question, just ask! There are several teams channels you can access to ask questions, or you can chat with people who you know can answer your questions. If you’re unsure whom to ask, talk to your supervisor.
