Getting started with Pressbooks

1. Log in and create your account:
   • Go to uen.pressbooks.pub
   • Click on Sign In
   • Click on Institutional Login
   • Find UVU
   • Your account will be created
   • Click on Admin in the upper right
2. Review the Pressbooks User Guide
3. Create Your first book
   • On the Dashboard, click Create a book
   • Create a Webbook Address
   • Give your book a title
   • Set the Privacy to No
4. Add content to your book
   • Click on Organize
   • Add content – chapters = pages
5. Add interactivity (see H5P Section)

Pressbook Authoring and Copyright

Because Pressbook is an outward facing platform that is potentially viewable beyond UVU we need to complete the authoring and copyright as follows:

Pressbooks attribution:

1. Use “2025 Utah Valley University. All rights reserved” unless openly licensed.
2. If faculty are adamant about attribution in footer, use this format “[Copyright Notice]. [Name], [role at UVIU], is the author of this [type of work]”
   • Example: “2025 Utah Valley University. All Rights Reserved. Albert Einstein, Professor of Physics, Utah Valley University, is the author of this book.”

Procedure

1. Select “Book Info” from left navigation
2. Add Title
3. Add Authors
   • Add all contributors using the “Create New Contributor” button
4. Add the following in the Copyright fields which will populate the footer of the book:
   • Copyright Year: e.g. 2024
   • Copyright holder: Utah Valley University
   • Copyright License: All Rights Reserved
5. As needed use the introduction page as an author page in the front of the book
   • Additional details can be added, however must include the following:
     • Example: “Albert Einstein, Professor of Physics, Utah Valley University, is the author of this book.”
