21 Cross-Listing Courses

Faculty may request their sections be cross-listed so they can manage two or more sections from one Canvas course.

The benefit of cross listing a course is that it leverages the faculty’s time in tending to course announcements, settings, etc. In essence, if a course is NOT cross listed the faculty would have to do multiple sets of announcements or changes rather than just one.

The disadvantage is that it may make facilitation more complicated if the instruction for the two sections needs to be different.

Please note:

  • If your sections will also be linked to a Blueprint shell, it is best to cross-list your sections first.
  • Some third-party software and/or Publisher content do not link well with a cross-listed course. It is best to verify this before requesting cross-listing.
