Finding Course Outcomes

To find the course outcomes in CourseLeaf:

We have read-only access.

You need to be invited to use this resource. Ask Seth for an account.

Missing Course Outcomes

If you encounter a course that has no CourseLeaf Learning Outcomes OR has Learning Outcomes that need updating, work through the following steps:

  1. Encourage faculty to have a conversation with their department chair.
  2. With department chair support, work with the faculty to create suitable Learning Outcomes.
  3. Send an email to the Department Chair asking for their feedback and approval for the newly created Learning Outcomes.
  4. Ensure the Department Chair understands that by approving the learning outcomes, they are committing to formalizing them in CourseLeaf.
  5. Follow up with the Department Chair to ensure the new learning outcomes are in the process of being formalized before the course launches.

Subject: SUDC 4300 CoursLeaf Update Proposal

Hi [department chair],

We are developing SUDC 4300 for online delivery this summer with [faculty] and need to get your approval to update the CourseLeaf Outcomes as follows:

This class prepares students to do “counseling” NOT “therapy”… so each instance of therapy/therapist needs to be updated to counseling/counselor.

Current CourseLeaf Course Learning Outcomes

Upon Successful completion, students should be able to…

  1. Identify ethical and legal issues in counseling practice.
  2. Describe theoretical approaches to individual and group therapy.
  3. Demonstrate the principles of group formation.
  4. Discuss therapist tasks and techniques.
  5. Examine counseling theories from a multi-cultural perspective.
  6. Explain issues related to research and training.

Proposed Course Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify ethical and legal issues in counseling practice.
  2. Describe theoretical approaches to individual and group counseling.
  3. Demonstrate the principles of group formation.
  4. Discuss counselor tasks and techniques.
  5. Examine counseling theories from a multi-cultural perspective.
  6. Explain issues related to research and training.

If You Agree

We simply need you to “reply all” to this email with your approval which will allow us to develop this course toward the proposed description and outcomes while you formalize them in CourseLeaf.

  • Formalizing the description and/or outcomes is the responsibility of the school or department as OTL does not have the authority nor access.
  • Updates must be submitted into CourseLeaf and approved by University Curriculum Committee (UCC) in order to show up in the catalog. This is essential for accreditation.
  • If you need assistance using CourseLeaf contact your University Curriculum Committee (UCC) member.
  • For assistance using CourseLeaf or advice on the curriculum process, contact the Curriculum Office.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
