Secondary Phase: The Profile Essay


Okay, so you’ve submitted your literacy narrative. Or maybe you’re still putting the finishing touches on it. Or maybe you’re reading ahead. Whatever. It’s time to start thinking about a different kind of writing and what you’re going to be doing for your next essay: a profile. We’re going to be taking a bit of a step closer to more formal writing[1] since you’re not going to write about yourself here very much. You still have the choice to write in a more informal style, though, so it’s not a huge step away from how you might have written your literacy narrative.[2]

Let’s do this.

  1. Your first essay was a personal narrative that could be written in a very informal, conversational style. ↵
  2. Unless you want it to be a huge step–you are welcome to write objectively and formally here, too, if you want. ↵
