And Another Thing: Basic Grammar and Usage

Well, here we are. Everything that needs to be said about the essays has been said. What remains, really, is all of the other stuff that can take a great essay and make it a terrible reading experience for your audience, which, in case it wasn’t obvious, is not what we want to do. While entire books have been written about each of the sections below, I’m going to try and provide for you a really quick and dirty explanation of some of the most important grammar and usage issues that I see in final student essays[1] each and every semester. There is extra credit available to students who review the material below and complete the quiz in the course.
