Chapter Summary

Key Takeaways

Correlational and other non-experimental, quantitative methods play an important role in social research. In this chapter, we discussed two common ways to collect this kind of data: surveys and observations. Within each of these methods, we talked about various ways to modify and customize the data collection based on a study’s goals. Remember that this kind of research is appropriate for some questions, and other types of research approaches and data collection techniques will be good for other questions – it’s all about using the correct tools for the job!
