History of this Book

These chapters, written by members the University of Utah’s Evidence-Based Practice Committee, originally appeared as articles on the University of Utah Health’s Accelerate website with the help of Kim Mahoney and Emily Izzo.

Accelerate was a virtual community of practice focusing on improvement, leadership, and well-being topics. Hundreds of health care professionals from throughout the academic and clinical delivery system shared valuable insights and best practices every week—and made it available for the world to see. With an audience of hundreds of thousands of readers and a weekly newsletter that extends across the system, Accelerate was a great place for valuable learning.

In 2025 the public-facing Accelerate website was sunset-ed and moved to an internal intranet presence. In light of this change, we converted our EBP articles to an open education textbook (OER) to continue to share this valuable information.
