Practical Applications of Analysis

Analysis of any music can be satisfying, meaningful, and fun on its own. Yet analysis can also serve practical purposes. While there are many possibilities, we focus on three here:

• Using analysis to prepare for rehearsal
• Teaching music theory in repertoire-relevant ways in the choral classroom
• Using analysis to make performance decisions
